We’re continuing to make a positive impact throughout the county when it comes to anti-social behaviour.

In March, our officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) hit the streets and conducted more than 880 patrols to tackle ASB as part of our new approach ‘Operation Shango’. This made March the most patrolled month since the scheme started in July 2023.

Last month, our officers made 15 arrests whilst out on these hotspot patrols. 90 referrals were also made to the Immediate Justice scheme, which makes offenders do community work to make amends for low level criminal offences.

These 90 referrals will join the 112 people who have completed immediate justice work so far. This project clearly helps those involved to rethink their actions, as 100 haven’t reoffended since doing community work such as litter picking, volunteering with a charity or creating community allotments.

As part of listening to what you need from us in tackling ASB, we’ve also had some positive feedback from a business owner based in the High Peak area who has seen an improvement of anti-social behaviour over the years.

“Since opening in 2020, both of our businesses have had numerous experiences of anti-social behaviour. Everything from general nuisance to unlawful access into the buildings and damage such as broken windowpanes.”

“Four years on and the level of anti-social behaviour has decreased, and this is down to the actions taken by Derbyshire Constabulary and the positive engagement between us as a significant business in the High Peak area and the local constabulary. As is the case in hospitality, it is not very often that praise is levelled where it is due, however, the work that has taken place has, without doubt; had a significant impact.”
