I trust that you are all well and enjoying those small glimpses of Spring and sunshine we get treated to every so often.

Please see below your fortnightly crime updates for Adur and Worthing for the period of 4 April 2024 to the 18 April 2024. 

*Please be advised that where possible, a broad timeline of the incident has been provided.

Crime Reports

Burglary – There have been six reports of residential burglaries

05/04 – South Street Lancing – Between the hours of 4pm on the 04/04 and 10am on the 05/04, an empty property has been broken into, with significant damage caused to doors, windows and a side gate. 

05/04 – Chippers Close, Tarring – Whilst the occupant was asleep overnight, someone has entered their property and stolen a purse. Homeowner does leave her property unlocked in case of emergency and there was no forced entry. 

05/04 – Samphire Drive, Northbrook – House had been entered via the rear door window, causing damage and the property was searched. Several items of jewellery had been stolen along with a small safe. There is no indication of the timing as to when the burglary was carried out.

09/04 – The Quadrant, Castle – Residents have been away on holiday and during the time where the dog sitter had taken the dogs for a walk, the property was broken into.           There is not a specific time that this has occurred and it is unclear as to whether anything had been stolen. 

12/04 – Sea Lane, Goring – Around 9.30pm, there has been a report from neighbours that the property’s alarm has been activated and the rear door is open. Property has been empty for several months as homeowners are away. 

13/04 – High Street, Shoreham by Sea – Homeowner has been away on a trip for four weeks and upon return has found their property has been broken into and property stolen.

Burglary Prevention 

Please make sure your outbuildings and garages are locked and secure. We are continuing to investigate these burglaries and if you see anyone acting suspiciously around a property, please report it to us on 101 or 999 if you are witnessing a burglary in progress.

Protecting your home when on holiday

While people can enjoy more freedom away from their homes, they will be empty for longer periods of time and could be attractive to an opportunist burglar. Make it more difficult for burglars by ensuring you protect your home, belongings and by checking your outside security.

Vehicle Crime – There have been eleven reports of vehicle crime

04/04 – Dawes Avenue, Seldon – Motorcycle was stolen overnight from outside the owner’s property.

04/04 – Park Road, Shoreham by Sea – Front number plate has been stolen from a car.

07/04 – Summersdeane, Southwick – Between the hours of 4pm on the 04/04 and 2.30pm on the 07/04, a commercial van has been broken into, with approx. £800 - £900 worth of tools and other items stolen. 

08/04 – Busticle Lane, Sompting – VW Transporter has been stolen between the hours of 2pm on the 06/04 and 7.20am on the 08/04.

09/04 – Thalassa Road, Seldon – Front number plate has been stolen from a vehicle.

09/04 – Nelson Road, Worthing – Vehicle has been damaged overnight, when the wing mirror had been folded in and may have occurred overnight. 

12/04 – Durrington Gardens, Worthing – Front number plate has been stolen overnight.

12/04 – Edmonton Road, Durrington – Cars have been damaged by an individual throwing rocks at cars, which occurred around 11.20pm.

14/04 – Brunswick Road, Worthing – Car has been broken into by three males, which was parked directly outside the owner’s address. This occurred at 6am this morning and several items of clothing have been stolen from the boot of the car. 

14/04 – Boundary Road, West Worthing – Between 7pm on the 13/04 and 12.30pm on the 14/04, vehicle has been broken into, but no damage has been caused. Bank cards and cash had been stolen. 

14/04 – Lansdowne Road, Worthing – Overnight, vehicle has been broken into and a purse containing cards have been stolen.
