Car Crime in Your Area

Dear Resident,
Please be aware that we have seen an increase in reports of people stealing from unlocked vehicles in your local area. This tactic, “trying car doors” is used by opportunistic thieves across the country. As we continue to follow what lines of enquiry are available for us to identify the people involved, we ask that you continue to follow this advice to avoid falling victim yourself;

1) Ensure your vehicle is locked at night and when not in use. All recent reports have involved vehicles which have been left unlocked, or where the locking system has failed.

2) Where you can, park somewhere secure. Vehicles parked in well lit areas, or areas covered by CCTV, are significantly less likely to be targeted by thieves.

3) Check your home security is in working order. Take a minute to check your CCTV and/or security lighting is running as it should be.

If you see somebody acting suspiciously on your street, please let us know by calling 101. If you see someone actively stealing from a vehicle, call us right away on 999.

With your help, and our targeted patrols in marked and undercover cars, we can all keep Anchorsholme that bit safer.

Thanks,
Your Local Neighbourhood Policing Team
