Association Updates and Future Support

Hello Resident,

Last month you may remember an email was sent out focusing on personnel changes within the Association. Since then, myself working as a Project Manager and now Association Interim Chair, alongside an engaged working team of volunteers have been hard at work.

Beyond creating foundations for a fully-fledged Association in the future, including ensuring paperwork is watertight and membership vacancies are well filled, we have been considering what actions now need to be taken to better support volunteers, after all this should be the driving purpose behind an Association.

Our action plan

With all the above in mind, and in aiming to be more front facing and transparent, we have begun to create a measurable and achievable action plan, the outline of which is as follows:

  • Support volunteers via scheduled and pre-planned meetings. To run at regular intervals offering help and guidance on various topics.
  • Increase the number of Multi-Scheme Administrators across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland, ensuring we are able to quickly onboard new schemes.
  • Offer more thorough introductory meetings for new coordinators and new schemes, increasing support at the very beginning of a volunteer’s journey with Neighbourhood Watch.
  • Deliver training to PCSO’s and local policing teams, centred around how they can best liaise with Neighbourhoods Watch schemes in their work area.
  • The above objectives are all achievable, and importantly are wanted by volunteers, as well as liked by other stakeholders including the Police themselves. We ask for your patience in achieving each of these- regular updates will be provided in the future.

    Meetings moving forward

I am pleased to announce that some future meetings have already been scheduled in. Pease see below for the date and time of these, as well as the MS Teams meeting link:

  • Tuesday 23rd April – Association Q and A (18:00-19:00)
  • Join on your computer, mobile app or room device - Click here to join the meeting

  • Thursday 16th May – Coordinator Q and A (18:30-19:30)
  • Join on your computer, mobile app or room device - Join the meeting now

If you wish to attend the above meetings, you need do nothing else but remember the links above. Anyone is welcome, and we look forward to discussing the past and future, as well as offering support. The first meeting will focus solely on the Association itself, and will be a chance for me to explain what has been going on, and what the goals are moving forward. The second will be all about offering support to Coordinators, so beyond just answering your questions, it will give us a chance to understand what you may want in the future.

Feel free to email me beforehand if you wish to attend but aren’t sure how. You can also email me any questions you would like to feature in the Q and A’s.

    A call for Multi-Scheme Administrators

Lastly, focusing on our second listed objective- if anyone feels they would like to become a Multi-Scheme Administrator, please send me an email and we can begin discussions. Our long-term plan is to have an MSA in every region, and as at current we have only 4, we could certainly do with some more help. A full explanation of the role and training will be provided.

    And thank you

Thank you all for your continued efforts with Neighbourhood Watch, and thank you for taking the time to read this email. Feel free to send me an email if you have any queries. Moving forward we would welcome further help from others, so if you do feel like you may want to be a part of the working team, you are welcome to let me know.

To confirm, my email address is – sam.payne@ourwatch.org.uk
