The week commencing 15th April 2024 is “Violence against women and girls” (VAWG). This week of action will see different activities to support women and girls against violence.
Throughout the world, one third of women and girls are affected by violence, making it the most prevalent and damaging form of abuse for both victims and the wider society. Violence against women and girls is an umbrella term used to cover a wide range of abuse types, which includes and not limited to, domestic homicide, domestic abuse, sexual assault, experienced abuse as a child, female genital mutilation (FGM), forced marriage and harassment in the workplace and public life.
