General Advice From Your Local PCSO

Hi again,

Just some tips to keep your house secure and prevent these Burglars from entering your home or properties.

How safe is your home or flat?

  • Make sure you or your landlord has cut the shrubs and planting regularly so that they don't cover any CCTV or interfere with any lighting. If you notice something is not working then please either contact your landlord or if you own the property then please get it fixed as soon as possible.
  • Make sure you have working CCTV or Ring doorbell.
  • Keeping your shed or garage safe and secure

  • First off, check that your insurance covers the contents of your shed or outbuildings from theft.
  • Consider a battery operated shed alarm. They look low key but they respond to movement or door contact with an extremely loud siren.
  • Window security

  • Burglars target windows as they have easier access then doors. Check how your windows look from the outside, and remove any potential access point where you can.
  • Laminated glass or security film is recommended for ground floor and accessible windows.
  • Key operated locks are recommended for window types that open out, rather than up.
  •  I hope these small tips are useful for you.

    Thank you.

    Maryam.
