Henley And Longford Neighbourhood Team

Dear Residents and Local Businesses,

Here is your weekly update from your local neighbourhood Policing Team, to let you know some of what we've been busy dealing with:

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

We have arranged a PACT meeting for the Henley area next week. The details are as follows:

Thursday 4th April , 6-8pm

At Moat House Leisure Centre,

1 Winston Avenue,

Coventry,

CV2 1EA.

This is an opportunity for you to chat with officers from the team and discuss any concerns that you may have.

There will be a PCSO in attendance who can assist with British Sign Language.

ARRESTS

Our officers have arrested two people on separate occasions this week.  One for breach of Court Order and another for making threats to kill.

NUISANCE MOTORBIKES
The use of Off Road bikes is illegal and that we will work with partners to address those that are persistently using these bikes in an antisocial manner. This could result in action against people’s tenancies for their homes, alongside any criminal enforcement that is taken by Police. There is also a City Wide Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) which will result in a fine when riders are identified.

West Midlands Police have recently introduced a dedicated Off Road Bike Team, which we will look to use in Coventry. This will support our existing tactic of DNA Tagging Spray, which since being introduced has resulted in a number of bike seizures across Henley & Longford Areas. Since the introduction of the DNA Tagging Spray, we have seized a number of bikes where we have identified the spray and ensured these bikes have been crushed.

We ask that you remain vigilant and where safe to do so, take as much detail about the rider or the bikes, including distinguishing colours of clothing, bikes or any key locations where these bikes start and report this to Police so we can continue to build on the wealth of information that people are providing in relation to this issue.

VEHICLE CRIME

We are continuing to see vehicle crime in the Walsgrave area.  Some of which of which are tools being stolen from vans. We would encourage all traders to remove all tools from vans overnight and also keep your vans locked and alarmed during the day whilst in use.

There has also been an increase in keyless vehicles being stolen. We recommend that owners of these vehicles use a steering wheel lock to prevent against theft.

You can find out more about vehicle crime prevention here: Theft of motor vehicle | Your Options | West Midlands Police (west-midlands.police.uk) and here: Theft from motor vehicle | Your Options | West Midlands Police (west-midlands.police.uk)

Officers from our team have been attending these incidents and checking for CCTV.
