Nottingham Knockers

Good Morning All,

Long time no see.

I have been off with the dreaded Covid again which has knocked me about a bit.

Today’s photo is of one when I was on an afternoon shift not long ago that I thought was really good so I thought that I would share it with you all.

Anyway this topic is all about Nottingham Knockers.

I have sent a message covering this before but it always nice to have a reminder.

We have  also had some calls in the Rhosddu area on the 7th of Feb at around 6.00pm.

A male knocking on doors saying he has just been released from prison and is trying to get his life back on track by selling some items. These are usually household items at very inflated prices.

They will have an ID card which has no legal bearing whatsoever.

Description is slim build in a grey tracksuit  with a Green/ Brown large backpack.

If possible can you have a look in the area at the time and see if you have any footage on your doorbell/cctv cameras please?

So once you purchase items from them they will keep returning to try again. In other areas, they’ve even become violent and forced their way into people’s homes to obtain further cash. This hasn’t been reported in the Wrexham area yet, but the men have been very inquisitive as to the where the biggest houses are and where is the richest area.

To stay safe the best way of dealing with them is be polite but don’t engage with them.

Have a look at the below link from Op Repeat

If you do get a knock on the door from anyone saying they have just come out of prison and are selling items then give us a shout on 101 please.

Remember 999 in an emergency.

If you have already been approached you can report these type of incidents to Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 0808 223 1133 (English speaking service) or 0808 223 1144 (Welsh speaking service)

Thanks and Stay Safe

Steve
