Welcome to Neighbourhood Alert Police, Community and Neighbourhood Watch Online tools and communication.

The Neighbourhood Alert system is an online, secure community messaging system that allows authorised administrators to log in and send messages to registered people in the community, members of Neighbourhood Watch and other schemes (Tenants and resident Associations, Church Groups, Community contacts and members of Business Watch etc), who have chosen to receive them.  Messages can be sent by email, telephone or text message by a range of approved Information Providers such as the Police, Neighbourhood Watch administrators, Trading Standards and the Fire Service.

Public sector agencies working in Partnership

The Neighbourhood Alert system enables public sector agencies such as the Police, Fire service, Trading Standards, Community Safety Partnerships and local Councils to work together in a new, efficient and secure manner.  Cumbria Community Messaging is a superb example of the system providing forward thinking agencies to work together effectively and at a fraction of the usual cost.  Watch the Partnership in Action video.

Our Aim:

To provide at no cost the latest community and Neighbourhood Watch online tools for Neighbourhood and Home Watch coordinators throughout England and Wales.  To enable sustainable reductions in crime and disorder and fear of crime by facilitating communication between Residents, Neighbourhood Watch, Trading standards, Councils and the Police.

Neighbourhood Watch

Neighbourhood Alert is the official online secure database for The Neighbourhood and Home Watch Network (England & Wales) (NHWN), thousands of scheme coordinators and members use the online tools to manage their schemes, review crime stats, define scheme coverage areas and send messages between scheme members.  Follow this link to hear what a Nottingham Coordinator thinks about the Multi scheme management tools.  Please visit www.ourwatch.org.uk for more information.

Neighbourhood Return on BBC Breakfast

Broadcast Friday 8th November 2013
Neighbourhood Return is a service built by VISAV Limited and powered by the Neighbourhood Alert database.  It is run by the Neighbourhood and Home Watch Network which coordinates volunteers to go and search for people with dementia who may have got lost or wandered. Carers of people with dementia can register the person and if they go missing, then they have a direct telephone number for Dudley Telecare, a 24 hour call centre which will initiate and coordinate the search.

Registered volunteers are then contacted and asked if they can participate in a search in their area. Only the volunteers who agree are then sent the details of the missing person and the details on where to search. It is estimated that each year around 40,000 people with dementia wander for the first time, which increases the pressure and anxiety for families. In turn, this leads to a heightened risk of care home admissions.

The following news story was broadcast by the BBC in November, an earlier report by ITV can be viewed in our video archive.  For more information, please visit www.ourturn.org.uk

Safety and security first

This is a secure, encrypted site and will check and store the IP address of anyone that tries to gain access.  The security, hosting and database is audited every year and is accredited by ACPO Secured by Design as secure.  Members of Neighbourhood Alert will be able to request alerts and configure for themselves the type and times of contact once logged in.  The entire system is free to use by anyone that registers.  Police forces and other organisations interested in adopting a self branded version of this community messaging system should contact VISAV Limited.
