Counterfeit Banknote Checking Scheme |
||
|
Businesses are being encouraged to sign up to the Bank of England banknote checking scheme in a bid to tackle counterfeit currency. Officers from the force’s Economic Crime Unit and Designing Out Crime team will be out and about in the city centre on Wednesday (10 June) visiting businesses to offer information and advice. Details about The Bank of England scheme can be found here https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/banknotes/banknote-checking-scheme Officers may not get a chance to visit all businesses in the area but if retailers would like more information, they should email Fraud.Vulnerabilities@leics.police.uk to request literature from the Bank of England. **The force’s Designing Out Crime team provide expert advice on both new developments and existing environments. They focus on reducing crime and anti-social behaviour by improving things like lighting, landscaping, and building layout. They also offer practical crime prevention advice to members of the public on a wide range of issues, including burglary, vehicle theft, and emerging crime trends. **
