Dear Resident, This week started well with officers coming across a vehicle parked in dead end near to a block of flats. The vehicle showed markers for making off from officers who had tried to stop the vehicle. The officers checked the vehicle out further and conducted a search of the vehicle finding a small quantity of class B drugs. The officers also found some documentation which tied to an address in the block of flats. Officer went to the address to speak to those inside only to find that the occupants were not who they were expecting as the flat which was housing provider owned had been sublet to another family. During the enquires conducted at the address it was found that one of the males had outstanding immigration matters. The male was arrested for the immigration matter.
Two of our officers and one of our PCSOs have been busy supporting our city centre colleagues this week leading up to the visit to Coventry by the President of Germany who was joined by the Duke of Kent at the Coventry Cathedral. The officers are all trained under Project Servator to spot the tell-tale signs that someone is planning or preparing to commit an act of crime. Project Servator aims to disrupt a range of criminal activity, including terrorism, while providing a reassuring presence for the public. the officers were involved in lots of different activity on the day before and the day of the event. Our PCSO also attended the Christmas Market in Birmingham as part of Project Servator.
On Saturday officers arrested a male who was wanted for failing to appear at court on behalf of Nottinghamshire Police. The male was taken to Coventry custody. On the way back from custody the two officers spotted a male acting suspicious with a large bag on and signs he was carrying something under his coat. The officers followed the male into a local shop where they found him unloading a large amount of chocolate onto the counter of the shop attempting to sell it to the shop owner. The officers quickly arrested the male as the items were believed to have been stolen. The male was found to have 71 packs of chocolate on him with an approx. value of £180. The male was taken to custody and the chocolate taken to the station so officers can identify the store in which it came from to obtain the CCTV and evidence needed to pursue the matter.
