Officers are supporting Safer Business Action Week to help tackle business and retail crime in our local communities. The aim of the initiative is to reduce business crime and improve safety for local retailers, staff and customers.
Officers have been on patrol offering crime prevention and safety advice to help deter theft and keep local communities safe Here is just one recent example of positive police action….
Shoplifter Christopher Storer from Trowbridge has been sentenced to six months in prison following his latest shoplifting spree.
He pleaded guilty at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court to 10 counts of theft from Boots in Countisbury Avenue. Over seven days last month (October 2025) he attended the shop 10 times stealing toiletries amounting to more than £1,100.
In the last five months, Storer has been charged with 30 theft offences.
He was sentenced at court on November 3 and following his release from prison will be subject to a Community Protection Notice Warning (CPNW).
As part of the CPNW he must not enter any Boots chemist or One Stop shop in Cardiff, or the Spar on Abergele Road.
Inspector Meg Butler, Neighbourhood Inspector from Llanedeyrn, Llanishen, Rumney & St Mellons, said: “Storer’s offending causes stress, anxiety and fear among employees at the shops he targets. His behaviour is also unpleasant for members of the public that have to witness his crimes. Businesses in our community and their staff deserve to feel safe, notices like this allow us to prevent further offending.” To report business or retail crime please contact South Wales Police by one of the following means.
