To the residents of Cathays, Plasnewydd, and Gabalfa,

We would like to make you aware of a recent increase in vehicle-related crime within your area. If you are receiving this letter, it is because your street has been identified as a location currently being targeted for offences involving theft from motor vehicles.

Our officers are actively working to identify those responsible and reduce these incidents. However, there are several steps you can take to help protect your vehicle and belongings:

Always ensure your vehicle is locked and secure, even if left unattended for a short time.

Do not leave valuables visible inside your vehicle.

Whenever possible, remove high-value items completely rather than storing them in the boot or glove compartment.

We have noted that the most commonly stolen items include:

High-value tools

Mobile phones

Headphones / AirPods

Bank cards and loose change

Branded clothing

Sports equipment (e.g., golf clubs)

By keeping your vehicle locked and ensuring no valuables are left inside, you significantly reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim of such crime.
