Offender caught and charged

Dear Resident,

On the 26th October there were several reports from residents, of two off road/electric bikes being ridden in the area by males in balaclavas, the males were taking pictures of vehicles. An area search was conducted but the males were not found.

In the early hours of the 27th we received a further report from a resident that the males had returned and were there now, due to this report officers made their way to the location. 

Officers were quickly involved in a short pursuit with a stolen car that was in tandem with an off road/electric bike. Unfortunately, the bike made off. However, the stolen car was recovered, the driver ran away from the scene, but he was tracked and caught by one of our police dogs and detained by officers. 

The 23-year-old man from Hyde has been charged with,

Burglary.

Theft of a motor vehicle.

Theft from motor vehicle.

Dangerous driving.

This is a fantastic result made possible by residents/members of the public making us aware of criminals/suspicious activity in the area.
