Operation Magnolia: Over 40 Arrests Made in Targeted Domestic Abuse Crackdown Greater Manchester Police’s Operation Magnolia has led to more than 40 arrests in seven days in a further dedicated effort to tackle domestic abuse and protect vulnerable victims across the Rochdale district. Led by the District Safeguarding Team and supported by specialist officers, neighbourhood policing and response teams, with partner agencies, the operation focused on proactively identifying high-risk offenders, safeguarding survivors, and disrupting repeat abuse through swift enforcement action. Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Williams, Rochdale’s Vulnerability Lead, said: “Domestic abuse ruins lives, and we remain absolutely committed, every day, to protecting those at risk and holding perpetrators accountable. Operation Magnolia is a clear demonstration of how we are taking positive and visible action to address abuse in all its forms. Through close partnership working with local authorities, victim support services, housing providers, education, and safeguarding teams, we’ve been able to act quickly on intelligence, offer tailored support to survivors and ensure that offenders are brought to justice. Over 40 arrests in just seven days sends a strong message: if you choose to abuse, we will find you – and we will act.” The operation also included a series of welfare visits, safeguarding reviews, and multi-agency support interventions, ensuring that survivors received the help they needed — not just during the week of action, but with a view to long-term safety and stability.
