Bike Thefts

Hello!

North Wales Police have seen a small increase in bike thefts.

We are encouraging all Gwynedd South residents to consider the following crime prevention advice to reduce the chances of becoming a victim of crime.

-When not using your bike, try and keep/store it in a location which is out of sight.

-Consider buying a good quality bike lock.

-If storing your bike in a shed/garage, consider buying CCTV which covers the area where the bike is kept.

-When storing your bike at home, consider purchasing floor anchors to secure your bike to with a padlock and chain.

-Consider purchasing security lighting for the location.

-Log and register your bike and other valuables on Immobilise - The National Property Register, for Phones, Gadgets, Bicycles & More... (immobilise.com)

-Consider purchasing SmartWater to forensically mark your valuables!

What is SmartWater??

-SmartWater is a forensic marking kit.

-SmartWater works in the same way as DNA.

-One bottles can mark up to 80 items.

-Each bottle of SmartWater is made up of a unique chemical code which is then registered to the owner.

-SmartWater sticks to almost any surface.

-When dry, SmartWater is almost invisible to the naked eye, however glows bright green under U.V light.
