Our work in Walsall Town Centre

Good morning.

Our neighbourhood officers based in Walsall carry out regular patrols in the town centre where we target anti-social behaviour and offer reassurance.

They are supported by officers from our Operation Guardian Western team. This team of officers patrol problem hotspots for youth violence and knife crime and engage with young people.

We work closely with businesses in the town centre to combat crime including shoplifting and have made a number of arrests recently.

Working alongside Walsall Council we enforce Criminal Behaviour Order and Public Space Protection Order breaches in the town centre. People targeted included shoplifters and those behaving in an anti-social manner including drugs use and street drinkers.

Inspector Pete Poolton, neighbourhood policing manager , for Walsall LPA, said: “We realise there are issues in the town centre including anti-social behaviour and thefts from shops but working closely with our partners including Walsall Council and businesses we are making good progress. This includes making a number of arrests for shoplifting offences.

“We want Walsall town centre to be a safe and enjoyable place to visit and we will continue to carry out enforcement action targeting hotspot areas.

“The summer is fast approaching and with it will come increased visibility at key times in the town.”

People can report crime to us via Live Chat on our website, or by calling 101. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
