Astley Bridge: Man Charged

Good Afternoon Resident,

As the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team continue to tackle crime in the Astley Bridge area, a man has been charged with a number of offences.

On Monday 29th April 2024, police received reports that a burglary had taken place at a garage on Horrocks Fold. The occupant disturbed someone in the early hours of the morning attempting to steal a jet wash from their garage.

The same morning, we received reports that someone had woken up to find that their BWM had been stolen from outside of their house on Mackenzie Street.

Yesterday (Sunday 5th May 2024), officers from the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team arrested a man on suspicion of committing these offences.

Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Thomas Jones (09/12/1983) of no fixed abode was charged with burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.

He has been remanded in police custody to appear at Manchester & Salford Magistrates’ Court today.

He has also been charged with a burglary that occurred on 30/03/24 at a flat on Valley View in Bromley Cross.

I would again like to thank those who have provided us with CCTV footage to assist with this investigation. We are committed to making Astley Bridge a safe place to live.

Kind regards,
