Police Seize Uninsured Vehicle Containing Nitrous Oxide Cannisters

Good Afternoon,

As part of a busy afternoon Policing the Island this Bank Holiday Sunday, patrols seized an uninsured vehicle thanks to a tip off from a local resident who was walking past the Police Car on The Promenade. The resident raised concerns that there were males doing nitrous oxide balloons in the vehicle and pointed the vehicle out to officers.

The officers swiftly stopped the vehicle where the driver made off across a shop roof and was lost due to it being unsafe for officers to follow him. Unfortunately (for him) he left his key behind and officers discovered 15 nitrous oxide cannisters within the vehicle. The vehicle turned out to be uninsured and as such has now been seized. Hopefully the male will make enquiries with Police to claim his vehicle so we can have a chat with him about the contents!

Nitrous Oxide is now a controlled substance under the Misuse of Drugs Act. It is widely used to obtain a 10 second ‘high’ when inhaled. If you see someone using the substance,  then please contact Police with the information of who, when and where it is happening. We will always try to take action when possible.

Enjoy the rest of your Bank Holiday!
