Surge Day / Weekend update - Paddock Wood

Dear Residents.

It was a successful shift on Friday when other officers and PCSO's from the Tunbridge Wells Neighbourhood Task Force and Tunbridge Wells Beat Team joined me for a surge day in Paddock Wood. The main focus of this day was to deter anti-social behaviour, respond to residents concern about speeding motorists and engage with as many people as possible.

The day started well with officers from the Neighbourhood Task Force seized a vehicle. This was followed up by PCSO Humphrey's and a Community Safety Officer from the Tunbridge Wells Borough Council being out on foot in Commercial Road, engaging with residents as well as businesses on their opinions of what can be improved in Paddock Wood.

I know that parking in the Commercial Road is a hot topic at the moment and whilst the police's powers are limited when it comes to parking, I have been liaising with the Tunbridge Wells Borough Council for some time now to try and get an increase in parking wardens coming out to Paddock Wood. Whilst this may take time, the Community Safety Officer has taken this on board from his time with us in the area on Friday and will be following this up with his colleagues in the council.

As officers from the Tunbridge Wells Beat Team were on a late shift, 5 police officers, one special constable, two PCSO's and I then spent the afternoon out and about in Paddock Wood continuing the police presence. SC Devereese and I focused on Church Road, Station Road and Commercial Road on foot patrol speaking with residents, businesses and the parish council. PC's Simpson and Smith conducted foot patrol throughout Paddock Wood, focusing more on residential streets. PCSO Booth and PC Whitehead did some Speedwatch on Warrington Road and Maidstone Road after residents raised concerns over the speed of drivers in those areas. Finally PC Goble, PC Kavanagh and PCSO Fuller did some cycle patrol. They patrolled around Paddock Wood focusing on the areas of Mascalls, Putlands, Warrington Road, Green Lane and green spaces.

Whilst my colleagues eventually returned to their respective ‘beats’, I remained in Paddock Wood for the evening. I continued with a mix of foot patrol, patrolling in the police car and spent time in the Commercial Road advising people that had parked illegally.

I have continued routinely patrolling in and around Paddock Wood as well as my other ‘beats’ this weekend. Whilst continuing to vary between foot and vehicle patrol I've managed to speak to lots of different residents as well as respond to incidents in the area. Thank you for your continued input, help and support. I hope all those that are off are enjoying the bank holiday weekend.

Kind regards,

PC Connor Geelan.

Please note that whilst I do like to keep you all informed of the work going on in Paddock Wood, there are some incidents that I will not necessarily talk about on this platform. Whilst I know many of you are keen to be updated on everything that is going on, there are some things I am not able to post on here. This is usually because it is part of an ongoing investigation or due to data protection etc.
