Wiltshire PCC Election 2nd May 2024

Our Association clearly has a vested interest in the forthcoming Police and Crime Commissioner elections. The current PCC's Police and Crime Plan enabled our Association to make a significant contribution to the plan's consultation process and specifically in relation to the principle of supporting good effective neighbourhood policing which our members demand. Unfortunately, PCC elections often take place with limited public knowledge of the candidates and what they stand for if elected. To my knowledge no public hustings have been announced at which candidates can address potential voters, nor to my knowledge have there been any radio phone-ins to hear from the candidates. Our Association recognises the importance of the strategic role played by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner who in the past 18 months has been responsible for the appointment of a new Chief Constable, as well as driving improvements in policing across Wiltshire and Swindon following the ‘special measures’ judgement in 2022.

If you want to know more about who is standing for PCC in Wiltshire and the reasons why they are standing, an internet search ‘Wiltshire PCC election candidates 2024’ offers a link ‘Who can I vote for?’ This lists the four candidates as well as providing access to their personal statement as to why they are standing. Before the election, our Association will seek reassurance from each of the candidates regarding their determination to further develop good neighbourhood policing and support of Neighbourhood Watch across Wiltshire and Swindon.

If you intend to vote, don't forget to take personal ID which is now a requirement.
