Update regarding suspicious activity on Neighbourhood Alert

Dear Resident

VISAV, who are the national data controllers for the Neighbourhood Alert system, made us aware on Monday (15 April) of suspicious activity that had taken place on the site affecting those who are signed up to receive messages from Neighbourhood Watch.

Those signed up to receive only police messages have not been affected. You can change who you choose to receive messages from instantly by clicking the settings button below and updating your own account, alternatively you can email VISAV support on support@neighbourhoodalert.co.uk and they will update your account for you.

We have been reassured that the national issue was quickly rectified, and the data placed at risk (on some accounts) was restricted to name, first line of address, email, telephone number and a small profile picture (if you added one). We continue to work closely with VISAV.

With any data breach, residents are encouraged to be wary of any contact in person, via email or phone call from anyone other than your NHW co-ordinator.
You can check if a scheme is approved and genuine by visiting the www.ourwatch.org.uk website and entering your postcode.

Anyone concerned about the data breach can contact support@neighbourhoodalert.co.uk

VISAV have sent a message to all members to clarify the details and provide an update.
