Eviction of tenant following ASB and drug activity

Partnership working with Platform housing has led to a court order being issued to evict a man from an address in Edith Berry Court in Malvern.

Pickersleigh and Chase safer neighbourhood team have been working closely with the Community Engagement team in Platform Housing and with Malvern Hills District Council to tackle issues at Edith Berry Court and onto Pickersleigh Road. Following reports of anti-social behaviour, drug use, and  some vulnerable tenants being taken advantage of, the Pickersleigh and Chase Safer Neighbourhood team have been engaging with the residents and upping patrols around the area.

It came to light that there were several addresses that issues were emulating from. A targeted approach with Platform housing and local authority has led to a section 21 eviction notice being served on one resident, who had to leave last weekend. Work is still ongoing in the area and a number of other safeguarding practices have been put in place.

Several other residents are at risk of being evicted and the safer neighbourhood team will not ease our actions until the issue has been resolved.

Edith Berry Court is Housing for the elderly and vulnerable.

We have concerns that some of the most vulnerable residents are being taken advantage of by other residents and their visitors, we will continue to work with our partners to eradicate this behaviour and make the area a place where all residents can feel safe and enjoy living.
