Warning to new or inexperienced sellers using Vinted platform

Over recent days, victims who are new to Vinted selling, were tricked in to interacting with a QR code to provide details for payments from alleged buyers. Subsequently, there has been fraud, or attempted fraud, on those affected bank accounts.

QR codes are commonly used to easily direct people to websites – in this case, it directed you to a page that looked very similar to Vinted, including a picture of the item being sold.

The way Vinted accounts are set up, means that the prospective buyer merely has to click the “Buy Now” button, confirm their delivery details and press the ‘pay’ button.

At no point will a seller need to provide any sort of account or card details to the buyer, as these are already stored securely within your account (at time of set up).

Vinted IS a safe and secure platform to use – but no seller should engage with in app messages regards to payment information, and definitely not interact with QR codes in messages.
